Build up Skills Cross Craft

BUILD UP Skills CrossCraft is an initiative of the EU. The overall goal - and motiviation - of the project "BUILD UP Skills CrossCraft" ist to ensure the implementation of the EU 2020 targets and the Austrian strategy for progression towards nearly zero energy buildings. The objective of “BUILD UP Skills CrossCraft” is to develop a qualification scheme for across-the-crafts training of professionals in the construction industry (e.g. general foreman, foremen, skilled workers, craftsmen and helpers in building construction and building services). By providing this qualification scheme, the project aims to improve the competence of skilled workers in the Austrian construction industry, necessary for the achievement of nearly zero energy building standard. New qualification and training schemes based on the key findings of the former project “BUILD UP Skills Austria”, qualification and training schemes – addressing craftsmen at EQF level 2, 4 and 6 (as a possibility for higher education) – were developed, implemented and evaluated. The qualification and training schemes complete the great variety of ongoing trainings in Austria. The Austrian stakeholders regard the proposed training courses as relevant contribution to reach the targets of the EPBD (Austrian workforce is skilled according to the requirements of the EPBD). To warrant the large-scale and long-term approach, the qualification schemes were implemented, monitored and evaluated in pilot courses all over Austria. Furthermore financing concepts as well as strategies for establishing the training schemes within the continuing education and training sector (including train the trainers seminars) are developed.
