TRAINING - NATIONWIDE

Trainings nationwide will help to design a clear understanding of a qualification for the builders of highly energyefficient buildings. This applies to employees as well as employers. The goal of the initiative BUILD UP Skills Austria was to create the general conditions to provide the know-how of craftsmen in construction and related industries through appropriate measures for the new requirements of the European Buildings Directive.

National Training Standard

The qualification needs in the building sector in Austria derived from the analysis of the “BUILD UP Skills Status quo report” and the stakeholder discussion process within the platform were defined. One of the overall results can be summarized as follows: It is necessary to improve the cross-trade understanding at the construction site with a focus on energy in the overall system “building”. Although these skills are included in the actual “Lehrlings- und Meisterausbildung”, it is important to improve the skills of skilled workers, who had their professional training 10 and more years ago or who had no sufficient training until now. Build Up Skills Cross Craft is therefore providing now the courses, offered by the vocational training institution of Austria’s building sector, the Bauakademie.

The National Training Standard offers the following qualifications:

 On-site CrossCraft Module: 3 hours

 Basic CrossCraft Module: 2 days

 Quality Coach Training: 3 days

 Special Module Techniques for renovation of old buildings: 1 day

 Special Module Installation of renewable energy systems: 1 day
